Evergreen, very small, almost round, thick and leathery, shiny like varnish; dark bronze-green in winter

Usually frost hardy, good for urban areas, needs wind protection
Note
Loses its leaves from the centre outwards after 8-10 years; cut back to 20 cm shoot length and fertilise to bring back new, luxurious, dense branches
