Funnel-shaped large shrub, 3-4 m tall and wide; main stems vertically upward-reaching, twigs horizontally extended, gradually arching; almost umbrella-shaped when old; fast-growing
Blossom
Large corymbs, June; plentiful; pungent smell
Leaves
Usually semi-evergreen, seldom evergreen; early shoots; pointedly elliptical, large, leathery, pale green, bronze-green in winter
Fruits
Splendid fruit, countless shiny, light red berry-like fruits, from September on; more persistent than with C. salicifolius 'Floccosus'; are eaten several weeks later by birds
