Habit
An upright, domed normal shrub with 1.5-2.5 (3) m tall and wide; many shoots, twigs somewhat  slow-growing, 15-25 cm a year
Blossom
Attractive flower spikes like bottle-brushes before leaves shoot, end of April to beginning of May, persistent, initially greenish white, then cream-white, spicy fragrance of honey
Leaves
Like alders, leathery, pale green; persistent flaming orange-yellow to scarlet from end of September; some of the most beautiful autumn colours
