Characteristics:
Habit
Colourful small tree, 8-12 m tall, 2-4 m wide, conical-upright, twigs pointing up, more ovoid when old; moderate growth, 40-60 cm a year

Buds white tomentose, flowers light pink when opening, then white, when leaves shoot in May, slightly fragrant
Leaves
Broadly elliptical, lobed, buds conspicuous silvery tomentose, gradually losing the hairs on top, dark green; the autumn colours are the truly decorative aspects - a plethora of fantastic golden yellow, orange, light and dark red hues, from September
Fruits
Initially white tomentose, some 3 cm long, round, later green, yellow cheeks with red flames, hard, edible but tasteless
