Before leaves shoot, spectacular, luxurious flowers, buds round, carmine, pink to whitish pink when open, very double, April (May); a select spring flowering plant

Fresh to moist, neutral to slight alkaline, for sandy-loamy, well drained substrates, failing on heavy compact soil

As flowers only apear an two-year-old wood, cut shoots back by 1/2 or 2/3 immediately after flowering to further production and logevity
